Dr. Valerie Johnson Colloquium

Dear Friends of UConn SLHS,
The 2020-21 SLHS Colloquium Series kicked off to a great start last night. Thank you to everyone who attended. We had over 80 participants log on.  Valerie Johnson, Ph.D. CCC-SLP delivered a thought-provoking talk on diversity, equity, and inclusion in SLHS. She presented sobering statistics reflecting the lack of diversity in our students and faculty and its impact on the clients that we serve. She challenged each of us to reflect on our own values and consider cultural humility rather than competence as a goal. She jump started some difficult conversations to be had.
